It’s always exciting when talented young stars like Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation) and Elizabeth Olsen (Captain America: Civil War) are able to set themselves apart from their well-known projects and explore new areas. And what better way to do that than with a wacky indie movie? Plaza and Olsen star in the upcoming Sundance hit comedy, Ingrid Goes West. The film received strong acclaim during its festival circuit – but the new trailer and Inherent Vice-like poster should convince you not to miss this one.
Centering around the wild social media scene, the comedy follows the unstable Ingrid Thorburn (Plaza), who travels out to California in hopes of becoming the best friend of Instagram celebrity Taylor Sloane (Olsen). Just by the trailer, it’s obvious the partnering of Plaza and Olsen is a match made in heaven. They will surely bring plenty of laughs, thrills, and who knows what else.
Ingrid Goes West marks the feature debut of Matt Spicer, who could easily become a director-to-watch-for after the film hits theaters in August. Alongside Plaza and Olsen, the comedy also stars O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton), Wyatt Russell (22 Jump Street) and Billy Magnussen (Into the Woods).
Ingrid Goes West looks to have the cast, the style, and the guts to set itself apart. But if you’re not still excited about this one yet, check out the wonderful new poster and trailer below.
Ingrid Goes West hits theaters on August 11th, 2017.
