Lionsgate has announced that the controversial Hellboy reboot will hit theaters in early 2019. The film will not be helmed by Guillermo Del Toro — who directed the first two cherished Hellboy films — and it not star Ron Perlman either. Instead, the reboot is being tackled by director Neil Marshall (The Descent) and star David Harbour (Stranger Things). It’s unclear at this point what route the new team will take the character, but hopefully it will be able to set itself apart from Del Toro’s installments enough to make it worth our while. The first image of Harbour as Hellboy was recently released, and luckily he doesn’t look half-bad. Let’s cross our fingers.
The Hellboy reboot also stars Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil), Ian MacShane (American Gods), and Sasha Lane (American Honey). The film will smash into theaters on January 11th, 2019. And don’t worry, we will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
