Episode 15: Kingsman: The Golden Circle and Retro Review – The Man From U.N.C.L.E (2015)

Episode 15 of The Film Buds Podcast will cover the highly-awaited sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle, then we will jump back to do a retro review of the very underrated spy reboot The Man From U.N.C.L.E (2015). Later we’ll discuss the new trailer for Wes Anderson’s Isle of Dogs, some listener questions, and much more!

Kingsman: The Golden Circle

Coming off the critically-acclaimed action satire-parody-homage Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014), The Golden Circle reunites us with both old and new faces. The sequel follows the top-secret Kingsman organization as they band together to seek revenge after their headquarters is totally destroyed. Kingsman: The Golden Circle is directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Kick-Ass), and stars Taron Edgerton, Mark Strong, Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Halle Berry, Pedro Pascal, Elton John, Channing Tatum and Jeff Bridges.

The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (2015)

Despite its modest box office success, The Man From U.N.C.L.E has seemed to gain some staying power over the last few years. It’s based off the 1960s campy spy series of the same name, and follows a top-tier English agent who is forced to team up with a stubborn Russian spy to take down a common enemy. The film is directed by Guy Ritchie (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword), and stars Henry Cavill (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Armie Hammer (The Lone Ranger), Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl), and Hugh Grant (Notting Hill).
