Episode 69: Roma and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

After an unwanted hiatus from the show (so sorry, everybody), The Film Buds are finally back! This week we will be reviewing the highly-acclaimed Roma as well as the second entry in the Harry Potter spinoff franchise, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

Roma tells the story of a middle-class family’s maid in Mexico City during the 1970s. The film is directed by Alfonso Cuarón, known for many previous hits like Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Children of Men and Gravity. Roma is receiving widespread acclaim and will surely be in talks for many Oscars this year. The film stars Yalitza Aparicio, Marina de Tavira and Fernando Grediaga. It is currently available on Netflix and in select theaters.

The Crimes of Grindelwald follows wacky Magizoologist Newt Scamander, who becomes wrapped in the epic conflict between the beloved Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) and his dangerous childhood companion, Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp). The film also stars Zoë Kravitz, Callum Turner, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, and Katherine Waterston. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is currently playing in theaters.
