War for the Planet of the Apes and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (2007)

Episode 5 of The Film Buds Podcast will record Thursday afternoon! We will be discussing the final installment in the new Planet of the Apes trilogy, War for the Planet of the Apes. Then we will do a “retro review” of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (2007) – the third film in Gore Verbinski’s underrated Pirates trilogy. We’ll also delve into a variety of discussion questions and news pieces, give our personal picks of the week, and much more! It’s going to be a great show!

For readers/listeners new to the podcast: Welcome! We hope you’ll tune in for our latest episode, and maybe even download/subscribe to The Film Buds Podcast on iTunes! Episode 5 will feature Henry Faherty (this writer), Braden Stone, our new co-host Chloe Strauss, and special guest (via Skype) Jacob Bowers.

For anyone who has listened to our previous episodes, thank you so much for your support! We do apologize for any weak audio moments, etc. – it’s a pretty big learning curve. So please bear with us!

Episode 4: Spider-Man: Homecoming and Retro Review – Batman (1989)

Episode 4 of The Film Buds Podcast will record Tuesday morning! We will be covering Spider-Man: Homecoming, and afterwards we’ll tackle a “retro review” of Tim Burton’s Batman (1989). Myself and Braden Stone will be back, and hopefully our cohost Will Davies will be able to make it. However, Episode 4 will also feature comic book aficionado — and my good friend — Paul Davis via Skype. So make sure to tune in to hear his thoughts on Homecoming; the conversation will almost surely be an epic one.

Later on in the show we will be covering a plethora of recent news pieces and some listener questions, including what we think of Michael Mann (Heat) directing a limited-series about the Vietnam War – and the transition of big-time filmmakers transitioning to TV; Daniel Craig’s rumored return to Bond 25; what movie(s) changed your life, talking to non-film nerds about movies; is the abundance of reboots and remakes marking the end of Hollywood? And, unsurprisingly, probably much more!

We hope you can join us! Look for us on iTunes, and make sure to download our three previous episodes at the link below! Thanks so much for your support!

Episode 3: Baby Driver and Okja

Episode 3 of The Film Buds Podcast will record Thursday afternoon! We will be reviewing Baby Driver and Okja. Our friend Jacob Bowers will be on the show to give his thoughts on all things movies. There will also be plenty of roundtable discussion topics this week – including the mountain of trailers released over the past week, the passing of Michael Nyqvist, Patty Jenkins’ probable return to direct Wonder Woman 2, and which movies changed our lives.

For listeners who were nice enough to tune into Episode 2, we do apologize again for the poor audio in the second-half of the show. We were in a bad location, and we promise that won’t happen again. Thank you so much for sticking with us!

Episode 2: Transformers: The Last Knight and Retro Review – Pacific Rim

To all those who have already downloaded Episode 001: Cars 3 and Rough Night, thank you so much for your support!  But there’s no time to waste.  Looking forward, we hope to bring you an entertaining and informative each and every week.

We will be recording our second podcast episode the afternoon of Tuesday, June 27th. The movies being covered will be Michael Bay’s Transformers: The Last Knight and Guillermo Del Toro’s 2013 robot v monster epic, Pacific Rim.  Obviously the latter film is not a new release, but it will be the first of (hopefully) many “retro reviews,” which will be an older release that has some connection to the former.  We hope that introducing this new segment into the show will be an enjoyable and always unpredictable experience for the listeners.

And that’s not all!  Episode 002 will also feature a number of interesting news topics and discussion questions after the main reviews.  We had a lot of fun doing it in the first show, so this will more than likely become a permanent segment.

Look for Episode 002 on iTunes this coming week!  If you happened to miss the first episode, feel free to download and subscribe at the link below!  Thank you!

Episode 1: Cars 3 and Rough Night

The very first episode of The Film Buds podcast records Monday night, June 19th, 2017. Just in case you’re wanting to get a head start and know what we will be discussing along with the two movies listed above, here’s a brief schedule for the show! We hope you enjoy it!

Intro: Myself (Henry), Will and Paige will introduce ourselves, then discuss ambitions and ideas for the podcast. Don’t worry, it won’t take too long.

Review: Cars 3

Review: Rough Night

Recap: Discuss our favorite and least favorite movies of 2017 so far.

Discussion: Throw around a few fun discussion topics from friends. Sorry, it’s the first show, we don’t have too many fans yet. We will, though.

Other films and television: Talk about other things we’ve watched, the good and the bad.

Outro: Figure out which movie(s) we will review next, as well as any other in-house topics.

Thank you so much for your support, and we hope to be around for the foreseeable future. We love movies, so we’ll stick around until we get tired of them. Which will probably never happen. See you then!
