It Will Get Blu-ray Director’s Cut; Potentially 15 Minutes Longer

Becoming one of 2017’s biggest hits, Stephen King’s It is about to get even better. Director Andy Muschietti announced to Yahoo! that a director’s cut will be released alongside the regular version when the film hits home media. The extended version will probably be fifteen minutes longer — which should give fans plenty more time with both Pennywise and the Losers Club.

Unfortunately, Muschietti did not give too many details away about the extended version. What he did reveal, however, is there was one particular scene he really disliked taking out of the theatrical cut:

“There’s a great scene, it’s a bit of a payoff of the Stanley Uris plot which is the bar mitzvah, where he delivers a speech against all expectations… it’s basically blaming all the adults of Derry [for the town’s history of deadly “accidents” and child disappearances], and it has a great resolution. … Maybe it will be in the director’s cut!”

It is currently playing in theaters. We will keep you updated about the director’s cut as more information becomes available.
